They turned the pressure way up on my friends mom's vent and she didn't make it.
Sorry to hear buddy. It was a real tragedy what happened. Why it happened is another story. Basically there were two papers that came out of Wuhan China that said how to deal with covid. And the short version is, they said it's too dangerous to let patients breath, so they must either be kept on a negative pressure ward, or kept on a ventilator (for the safety of the staff). This recommendation was then pushed by the WHO to all member countries. So suddenly hospitals threw out 50+ years of protocols for dealing with respiratory infections and just put people straight on a vent, and then they died in large numbers. And no one really wants to talk about it today, the media just moved onto the next current thing.
