Who knows what the Russians plan to do, but I think the start of all the shooting defined the end of them trying to tell everyone what their plans were to get them to go along.
And I always figure they know a hell of a lot more about the situation than I do, but it seems that if they leave Transnistria just hanging out there, that's going to be the next target for more years of easy, murderous provocation. It doesn't even have to be Ukraine or even Poland used for the next round, because to effect that plan there are already enough psychopaths installed in positions of power and in thrall to the West in Moldova and Romania. Last I heard (and I don't keep up), there were already four US bases in Romania.
There is rumors that Transnistria existence is necessary for keepeing Potsdam Europe borders. Suddenly, Transnistria is the only element of USSR that does not issue any document about exiting USSR or denouncing USSR entry. So, even if it could sound funny, Transnistria is the only existing part of USSR, so it is de-facto and de-jure it is USSR itself. And Potsdam papers about European borders after WWII is valid while all who sign it exist. If something happens with Transnistria, post-WWII borders in Europe are no longer valid.
May be this will be a shit they prepared next, when Ukraine shit will be silently memoryholed, as they did with coronahoax.
PS: It is just a rumors, and I'm not shure that anybody really care now about Potsdam borders, however, it is true that Transnistria never did anything that could be interpreted as exit from USSR. Transnistria is a consequence of Moldova way of exiting USSR - Moldova denounced joining USSR, so, suddenly, fall to borders they had before joining USSR and that borders didn't include Transnistria. From the other side, Ukraine exited USSR in borders of 1991, so it does not include Transnistria too. So, after USSR fall, Transnistria become perfectly legal separate state, that never exited USSR.
