The part about how we don't have them. We've had hypersonic tech since at least the 70s. They definitely exist. The question for me was never whether they exist but whether they're useful (ie maneuverable and accurate).
Air release hyper sonic weapons inherit the velocity of the carrying craft, this is why they are able to obtain that speed.
Implying they do not have enough fuel to do it on their own when launched from the ground.
Currently the only ground launched systems we have been informed of are from the east.
I would be more inclined to agree that there are no ground launched hyper sonic weapons at all anywhere.
The data on the Sarmat suggests that this would be incorrect.
