I can understand where they are coming from. I wouldnt advocate for someone who has never smoked before, lighting up a joint and jumping in the car. They are gonna have a real bad time.
But the same can be said about prescribed narcotics as well cant it. Dont drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how this medication effects you. In some cases, like my father. He was a better and more rational driver when he was stoned. When he was not high, he would be driving a 100mph around backroad country turns. Almost shit myself more than a few times.
I'd love to prove this for law enforcement on a closed course. I personally dont smoke and drive and I dont advocate for it. Mainly because of the legality of it. But I would bet money that I could smoke a bong and still pass a drivers test. Or that my reactions times would still be several times faster than say someone who is over 60.
How the hell they gonna test for this anyway? Have a little blood checker built into the dash or what. Be like the glucose strips, you just replace the tip every time.
Saliva isnt really a good indicator due to so many different types of it. And of course its not going to be coming out of your breath, but I guess it would be possible to detect some level of burnt particulates.
The only sure fire way I know of is being taken to a hospital, or in canada I believe some cops are outfitted with training and supplies to do blood draws on the spot.
Absolutely retarded. It should be rather simple. If someone is driving like their fucked up, and you take them in and they have a substantial amount of anything in their systems, then charge them.
Otherwise, what are we gonna do, restrict everyone who is on some kind of narcotic as well?
In 2015–2016, 45.8% of the U.S. population used prescription drugs in the past 30 days
