Since nobody interested in digging out that rabbit hole, I just lurked a little, and that's what I found:
https://whois.ipip.net/AS14593
Starlink have autonomous system with ID AS14593. This AS have only 206,080 IPv4 adresses that is too low for woldwide provider.
On "Graph v4" tab you could research direct connections AS14593 have with other AS'es. On "Upstreams" tab you could find upstreams of Starlink, i.e. channels Statlink use to connect to internet.
Mostly it connected to usual backbone providers and IXes, but there is some random networks I found interesting on the quick view.
- AS46997 NATOLAB - Black Mesa Corporation, US
- AS11164 INTERNET2-I2PX - Internet2, US
- AS14630 INVESCO - Invesco Group Services, Inc., US
- AS1798 OREGON - State of Oregon, US
- AS2152 CSUNET-NW - California State University, Office of the Chancellor, US
- AS207841 INFERNO - Inferno Communications Ltd, GB (some here will be enjoyed by that name)
- AS34019 HIVANE, FR (suspicious because it is a very small murky non-profit network with direct connection to Starlink AS)
- AS293 ESNET, US
You could continue that digging if interested. There are other tabs you could explore. There are tons of info you could find interesting.
SpaceX also have AS27277 autonomous system - http://whois.ipip.net/AS27277
Black Mesa Corporation, US is that the one in New Mexico?
Great post BTW!! This needs to be pinned. One of the very few and rare true investigative works here!
I don't know. Quick search show only references to some fictional organization from Half-Life computer game. That is why I accounted it as interesting.
Probably you have some official US business online catalogues where you could find registration data for US company by name. I just don't know where to look for such online services.
Also check another companies in "upstreams" tab, may be there will be more weird stuff I'm not aware about.
I thought you played Half-Life. As soon as I saw Black Mesa I was like is this for real!!
I don't know if they used the Black Mesa corp name just to troll us or if the game actually referenced some real world org. Even if we find the address of any companies they will probably be just other fronts I am pretty sure they cover their public tracks. Still worth looking into though.
I'm not a gamer, but of course I'm aware of Half-Life and its lore. :) However I thought that I'll find some real US business with that name but failed. That is why it attracted my attention.
Look, it is a perfect way to hide a real murky organization if you name it exactly like some fictional organization from some popular movie or game. Even if somebody will have question, all he would find is tons of references to game/movie. Or they even even create and push some blockbuster to hide already existing organization if they will need to hide it. Who knows how many entertainment franchises was created with that purpose?
Seems to be an ISP?
