Suddenly that stories was written thousands years ago, when Russians mostly drink honey based beverages. Vodka was invented much later. Again, you show your ignorance and try to pose it as some achievement. :)
What do you mean under "Russians"? Citizens of the state named "Russia" or people with common genetic code that belongs to one definite ethnicity? It is hard to get that, since for some reason English, unlike Russian, do not allow to separate that very different things. Please be more specific if you really want an answer.
Btw, do you believe that Earth was created 6000 years ago?
No. Why should I? I'm Orthodox Christian, not some Tora praiser. We follow New Testament in our faith, if you are not aware.
This is why I am asking. To me it sounds like you believe that the Earth is only a few thousand years old.
Are you aware that some nations, including Jews still use calendar with dates counted from Creation? There are different calendars exists in the world. Some count years from Creation, some from Christ, some from move of Mohammed into Mecca and so on. There even at least two calendars used now that count years from Christ - Julian and Georgian.
Obviously, people who copy that chronicles at the times before Christ could not use Christian calendar dating, because Christ was not even born yet. In the most ancient texts just "N years ago" used. Chroniclers had to somehow bring that all to some common calendar to avoid mess. Traditionally, Russian chroniclers of last 1000 years used dates from Creation for events before Christ and Julian calendar for dates later.
That does not mean that these people were Russian.
You still does not define what do you mean under "Russian". Is it so hard to you to be specific?
What made these people Russian in your opinion.
Blood.
Interesting, do you have questions on that matter about Jews, Armenians, Indians, Chineese and so on? Or your question about Russians only for whatever reason?
You know, there exists science named anthropology, that studies the development of humanity over the millenias. Today they have many new tools to find out paths of development of different nations (from latin natio - people of one ancestry). Check that, it is interesting.
