We have seen such combinations many times. What should be recognized is that we have gone far beyond WW2 levels of totalitarianism. Mussolini described fascism as the combination of corporate and governmental power. With increasing speed over the last few years, we have seen the rise of SuperFascism: the combination of all concentrations of power. Personally, I interpret this as a sign of weakness on Their part.

This is and always was the function of the "media". A Deep Thought I have found very valuable is that They told us that right in the name, but no one noticed. To the extent it crosses anyone's mind, "media" means something along the lines of "something that brings content to you", like a DVD or a sheet of paper. That's not at all correct.
The Latin word "media" means "middle". In this case, the "media" is in the middle between you and reality. They act as a shim between you and the vast majority of what you know about reality. You don't need to control reality when it's much easier to just tell people what you'd like them to believe it is. I encourage everyone to bring this understanding to mind whenever the word "media" is used.

Indeed! On a related note, I've stopped using the phrase "going down the rabbit hole". It's quite the opposite, is it not?
