I've had cats my whole life. I was tested for toxoplasmosis when I was first diagnosed with autoimmune issues. I don't have it. I don't think this quite as common as people say. It certainly doesn't hurt to get tested.
I was raised with a mom who regularly dewormed me and my brother. I still deworm yearly.
I don't remember what she used when we were kids but I use ivermectin and fenbendazole (it's a dog dewormer that seems to cure some cancers - ebay has it).

But seriously, if you have cats, you likely have toxoplasmosis and don't even know it. Do a search for "Cats toxoplasmosis"
