PRESCRI'BE, verb [Latin proescribo, to write before.] - "to direct at; to set authoritatively for direction".

Life can only be directed from inception towards death. Sustaining health while alive implies ones resistance within origin. Others suggest MEDICUS (to cure) MENTIS (mind/memory) to tempt one with wanted outcomes to ignore the need to resist origin.
