I don't see how metaverse crap could be somehow made popular even for a bit. First, you need an overpriced and crappy VR headset, than, what you get is complete crap from all points of view. Any MMORPG like WoW or Minecraft have multiple orders of magnitude more ability to become kind of "reality replacement" and strictly speaking already work that way to some extent. But Metaverse - no way. It is not new, it is too crappy even for VR fans, and it is much worse ergonomically than any other product with similar abilities.
Also, it is definitely not the first time when some big corporation inflate some bubble from some crap just to get rich when it blow.
Another thing - an attempt to pump a lot of third-party money to Zukerberg for some another, but much more important for elites project.
I'll bet on inflating bubble keeping financing hidden project as possibility too. Metaverse as product is absolutely unviable from any possible side, from tech to useability.
Metaverse as a whole is a bunch of stupidiest ideas, from the tech point of view. They could be made looking attractive in marketing ads, but will be completely unuseable in reality.
There is definitely something else with that metaverse hype, but that definitely not that crap they propose for users.
Remember, when IoT was something new and fashionable, they told how cool it would be to turn lights in the room on and off from your phone? That was not cool in reality. I don't know a single person who used that shit more than few times after installing only to brag before his buddies. It is unuseable, and mechanical switch in right place have useability orders higher. That IoT things ended either in trash with switches back either IoT switches was set in right places just to not rewire everything. People still turn the light on and off with switches, not through phone app as advertised.
Same with all other stuff "invented" for the sake of "modernisation" and "creating future" by some "visioner" hipsters completely alienated from reality. And Metaverse is like the essence of all bad and worst "inventions" of that retards.
Also, usually at the start, the popularity of some "new thing" become very high, than later dissolved without any significant trace. Metaverse even did not achieved any popularity on the wave of first hype. IDK, it is even worse that fidgets (that stupid replacements of regular ball bearing for those who never played with them in childhood). Fidgets at least had some popularity, I remember times when you could see people plaing with them here and there. Now they are gone. Metaverse was gone at the beginning. To the level that Zukerberg himself tried to play in it to invite users somehow. Kind of extreme desperation, I think. Like corporation CEO going from door to door himself trying to sell his crap to somebody.
If we put into context the idea of the phone and something like Alexa you need to concept the idea expanded to standing up the morning, walking into the next room and saying xyz and the entire room projection being where you need to go, shop, work, etc.
Did you ever tried that in real? Entire room projection looks so unnatural, that you will shut it down after few minutes. Things get worse when you move around the room.
To get something acceptable you need round screen around you with you staying in center. After some fight with yourself, you might find what you see more or less apropriate.
And that tech limitations. Imagine computing power needed to drive that insane amount of pixels. For nothing.
There is no any technology yet, that could make that idea of immersion acceptable.
I perfectly understand the idea you talk about, but it can't be implemented consumably in at least several decades, or even more. You need some outstanding technological breakthrough, like holograms or another image creation technology.
If you think this is not attractive to people remember that in just 10 years people have literally become consumed to notification slavery, hunching over and shopping and swiping for people and products.
Exactly, and that's why that metaverse doomed. People already have a simple and cheap way to live in virtual reality. It is just limited to a screen of the phone or computer monitor. There is no any demand for virtual access to anything anymore. Especially if new alternative looks ugly and cost more than any consumer will ever have to spend.
Problem is already solved, that is why attempt to solve it again will never succeed.
Ayh know we want to romanticize human beings but.. cities are filled in the millions with people who never go outside other than from home to work.. and they demonstrated in the hoax shutdown they would gladly stay home.
Those who want that way of life already have it, that's the point. Order food or goods in phone app, wait for delivery boy, enjoy the meal and gain more money doing some hob remotely. All that was in place long before coronahoax, and really coronahoax even slightly damage that, you know, people notice the importance of some things only when that things are lost.
Cities are our enemies.
Totally agree. There are no reasons for urban living anymore. In the past, cities concentrated workforce and bureacracy in one place to make things simplier. Today there are no any real reason for that. It is purely about control over people and depriving them from everything natural.

That will be even more crappy than VR headset.
