Any other sketchy “Nay” votes I missed?
Are any of the “Yay” votes from any user even approaching the sketchiness of these accounts?
Pffft, I didn't even bother, who gives a shit. I prefer not to ban anything.
Frankly, I could go either way on wholesale banning of topics. It seems like the vast majority of the “Nay” votes were coming at it from the perspective of free-speech absolutism. Which is great and all. But that doesn’t mean much of anything if they aren’t willing to reckon with valid counter arguments (such as: spam is already removed, FE is spam - or any of the other good arguments)
I think the key point is that many of us just want to raise the quality level of this place, and removing flat earth spam is almost the “lowest-hanging fruit” of that intent.
Yes, that is subjective, but it benefits no one to be paralyzed by indecision
Yep, well as long as the shit that I agree with isn't banned everything is gonna be fine.
:)
It would be nice to improve the quality, but that is really non trivial given that so much of the world is full of either complete idiots or outright criminals.
I am honestly kind of amazed at the level of attention this forum gets from that side.
Another thing is that without them it may become too much of an echo chamber.
Already the community is kind of high on itself and does not really promote discourse and voting, more of a pissing contest for many.
Agreed, unfortunately.
One of my goals is to get the admins to add the functionality for communities to sort by /active instead of just /hot.
It would turn the forum into an older style “bump” based board. It would hopefully alleviate a lot of the upvote and personality thirsting.
I think it’d be an experiment worth trying
Heh, you have some type of follower who does not agree with you here, judging by the votes you got in this comment line.
fun stuff.
Yea another section kind of like a sticky may work.
The issue is, with anything, it will face the constant barrage of fake pieces to break it down and turn it to shit.
Yeah it’s this faggot who’s the most prolific shill on the site (he shows up in my list up there and down below in the comments)
What's funny is I don't see any of that from the "YAYs." Like em or not, they're all casual to obsessive users here. Familiar.
Be a real shame if somebody fought fire with fire.
A damn shame, even.
Counted 16 sock-puppets in the end. There are probably a couple more that are old and maintained enough to blend in. With them subtracted it's still 61 Nay, 44 yay., which looks to be an accurate tally, since most top posts of universal popularity get about 100 upvotes on Conspiracies. Most of the nays are casual users banging on about censorship and free speech who don't give a damn about quality nor FE.
There were a few handshakes with a dozen or so comments total on the site in there somewhere. Honestly, it’s probably almost impossible to get a clear reading on the topic (unless you make sure to check the browser string for duplicates, since that’ll trip up many of the serial sockpuppeteers).
I did notice that iknowitsu was slamming the FEers, but never voted. Mods alt?
Nah, just a typical inbred globetard.
That guy seems to “dislike” many conspiracies. A bit of an r/Skeptic-type in my personal estimation. But that doesn’t mean he’s wrong, necessarily.
I read and enjoy everyone's comments. The boneheads keep us from being an echo chamber. Hell, I even liked the savior dude, lol.
I always get on the FE side because it's entertaining. A mind game for an old guy on a porch. But censorship raises my asshairs.
I’m shocked anyone can see that guy as anything other than what he is, a mentally ill scammer and spammer.
Regarding censorship, idk, I think Clem made some good arguments in his responses to nay voters - his job is to take out the trash, does the community think FE is trash?
We seem pretty split (maybe less so if the accounts voting Nay were scrutinized - I found 6 incredibly sketchy ones in a quick glance earlier today)
Anyway, cheers man, hope to see more of your contributions here!
Lol, the most unique beggar he was.
