Relatively good explanation. But that model is not only predict periodic table, but also give a clue what chemical compositions of different elements are possible, why there is noble gases and answers to many other questions.

That is how a good theory/model looks like. If it fit to everything we know from practice, answers most questions we have about subject, and gives correct predictions, it does not matter, if model looks weird for somebody, we could perfectly use it, until better theory or final truth will came out.

Same applied to conspiracy theories too.
