I saw an interview with a witch who acknowledges she's going to hell but expects Satan to give her a reprieve from torture because she was such a good servant to him.

Perhaps the powers that be think the same; or they just don't believe in the literal afterlife or hell despite their occultist knowledge. Perhaps they don't think about it at all because they only live in the moment for pleasure.
