you might be right about vid.

kinda' hoping keeping laptop unconnected to internet will be enough to keep it usable. i've a growing library of STEM vids that'd be useful post-collapse.

TBH, I think some books would be a better investment, despite the lack of density compared with digital. They can be traded and shared separately, whereas with a single computer you're stuck looking at one screen.

agreed. if it's digital vs. hardcopy, defintitely hardcopy, 100%. in my case, i'm ok on books and have 30+ years in different trades and backyard-engineering. given the amount of downloads on different STEM i have, it's worth spending the resources to protect.

Linux runs a great deal of binary blobs on hardware many of these are created by government spies.

Just another spy device.

oh yea? what about the network card? Or the audio device?

Most of the new boards require a bunch of extra stuff also.

Much of this is included already and you would not notice them until you start digging.
