The flat earth psyop is extremely well advertised (i.e. funded). It’s primary purpose is to disable, discredit, and prevent any earnest discussion or research into the valuable subject.
It does this a variety of ways, some of the major ones being false conflation of offensively stupid ideas/views/perspectives with the topic and its researchers and encouraging false enmity / ad hominem between “globers” and “flattards”.
This is the reason the youtube OP is receiving so much “hate mail” from “flat earthers”. The flat earthers aren’t real, strictly speaking, and are actually agents and/or products of the flat earth psyop.
Earnest flat earth research is nothing like you will likely find (be routed to by algorithm) on youtube. If you are interested in learning more about it, please join us on flatearthresearch!
I am certainly not interested in moving anyone! Though, maybe it won’t be as quiet or little if we encourage others to join us there!
I think it is valuable to have a community specifically for such discussions, especially for posterity. Discussions of the topic in random (typically unrelated) communities are likely to be lost and never be seen by interested people in the future. I envision flatearthresearch for in depth discussion, and exchange of views (including critical).
I don’t think “flooding” is necessarily the right approach, but i generally agree that we should be doing all we can to raise awareness of the important subject. Including on communities specifically for that topic!
I think sharing our views in other communities certainly has its merits too, but trying to force people to learn new things (especially that refute/violate their existing worldviews) almost always backfires.
Likewise flooding can easily cause the opposite effect - further loathing and disinterest of the subject.
I try inviting those that are interested instead, however - i will admit, my approach very rarely works.
