We joke about this with the moon but legitimately young people working as cashiers, can not do simple math anymore.
One of my guilty pleasures is to change up the amount of nickels or dimes that I give them, after they have it rung into the register. Then watch them have a meltdown. This only affects people under 30 to 35. I think that is around the time No Child Left Behind, went into practice.
That's okay; they can communicate in emoji. They'll be proficient at that since they'll never be taught old outdated things like writing with pencil and paper or talking to people over the phone or in-person.
