Yep, and here we are how many years later. Everything along this vein has some fraud attached to it, I think the level of acceptance in broader society is to blame.

People do not care about anything at all, as long as they can get food. Comfortable living and ease of life means that as long as you can eat and sleep, you don't really get invested in anything else.
