He cares about maintaining his own conception of Russia—a multicultural, multi-racial state that is at least relatively economically independent. If that’s what you support, he’s on your side. If not, well, you can only take advantage of some of the things he says, as well as what others say and do in response to him (such as expose themselves and their ideologies).
