No, they can't. You can't just bring anything into the airspace above Antarctica, even all the Earth satellites fly around the hole at the South Pole. The only known report of someone flying into the hole is from Admiral Richard Byrd (Operation Highjump should be known). Antarctica is mostly scrambled, censored or even completely cut out on Google maps and you can only drive along the edge but not look into the middle of the continent. Also, since the "blue marbel", there is no new original photograph of the earth in full profile, at most cut-outs or computer-generated graphics. Why can't new full-profile photographs of our planet be made? Or are they just kept from us so that certain things remain secret?
I am not sure if that press was a different test. There was another on atmosphere I thought. High atmosphere yep, no same ones, known. But there are nukes over there and the reactors. It has been in a shitload of stuff, films, novels. Nuke zee ice for the nuclear winter. Look it's melting. Hahaha. It's for the science, I swear. Nukes in Greenland just incase.
Besides where would you get that tech. That kind of drone needs a shit ton of fuel, and you'd have to know the meteorological readings. Your drone ain't flying well in snow storms.
It might be hard to obtain a quality drone now that I look into it. But perhaps you could purchase a military spy drone through some back channels.
Or go for a more low tech approach. Weather balloon. Those are cheaper and well tested technology. Float 4 or 5 of them over Antarctica from different positions along the coastline and one is bound to make it.
It's 2022, people have drones now, any moderately rich person could fly something over and video tape the entire thing.

Where is the Antarctica airbase that would shoot something down?
There are a few. Massive radar stations, for both meteorological, radar, and observatory detecting meteorites. There are a few military stations there from different countries. Some have nukes. They nuked the atmosphere over there a few times in experiments. https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/1085248/ww3-us-launched-nuclear-rocket-operation-argus-antarctica-russia-spt
