Circular star timelapse around polaris pivot point is pretty convincing for flat and motionless.
Someone must have been able to do timelapse in pre-camera times but once Camera Tech is widespread "they" would have known we'd figure it out....the same way non industrial peoples knew by staring at the sky all night..
