The eruption of Mount Pinatubo or was it Krakatoa (?) ... either way, there was a huge output of sulfur dioxide from volcanic sources and was called ... wait for it ...

"The Year Without A Summer" ... Tambora ... the mountain was Tambora that blew up.

Global food output cratered because of a huge cooling trend and famine was all throughout the land.
