The tactic is called a feint.
Feint weakness before the adversary. Emboldens the enemy.
While a retreat is postured the regrouped battle groups move in flank positions.
Once the adversary takes the feint bait and moves in, the flanks close in like a trap door.
Adversary is engaged and the rear of the advancing adversary is closed.
Becomes a cauldron.
Pause. Regroup. Repeat.
A classic meat grinder.
Not western war tactics.
NATO trained Ukes, mercs cannot deal with it very well.
That hastily planned C.O. bit the Ukes in their asses.
It was to show success in order for more $ to flow.
Normies in Europe are catching on, though.
