Those who haven't come to grips with mortality are children

Maybe they agreed to shave a 0.25 point of God's mortgage in exchange for immortality.

Aging is so multi-causal. It's telemeres, and oxygen damage, and free radicals, and so on. So, while cancer clumps are "immortal" (till they kill the host) but your body normally kills cells that replicated with mistakes like cancer cells.

I doubt if there will ever be a "cure" for aging in a thousand years or more. Even then, if there are treatments that can slow it down, your brain will age and wear down from entropy as nerve cells don't replicate.

Not in anybody's lifetime, or their children's children's lifetime. At best, there might be some treatments to make 50 the new 30 in this century.

Meh, I'm not up on the topic like I used to be. I listened to one podcast about it a few years back, and Instapundit would link to story after story about this or that "break through" that in the end, while progress in our knowledge of how aging works has been made, there have been almost zero practical applications that have come out of it. In short, we need plumbers now and not fluid engineers, if the hype is to be believed.

God bless!
