As I know, in Russia applying that job you need a good teeth, no cardiac issues, no chronic diseases, no diabetes and that's all. As for mental health, there are some check, but it is like driver license mental health check - you should not be diagnosed with mental issue earlier and short conversation with psichyatrist.
You are correct that Russia have a lot of such jobs - mining, weather stations, military bases and other stuff in distant Arctic. Moreover we have whole cities in places with climate like in Antarctica - Mirny, Norilsk, Yamburg, etc. Some people live in that cities constantly, but most are on 1/3/6 month shift contracts - f.e. 6 months work in Arctic, 3 months of vacations at home.
I also consider such job in Antarctica as an opportunity to escape that clown world for a while. When everything around finally make me totally fucking sick of it, may be I'll accept one of that job offers. :)
Yea I would if I had the opportunity. Although it's also important to have a good team. Don't want be out there with cannibals.
It's a good job. You're doing something important in its own way. As you say, a chance to escape it all, save, study, and be somewhere you haven't seen. Imagine that sky.
