Just because the Russian Collusion was disproven doesn't mean Russia is an American ally.
Russian Empire was a best ally (real ally, not some vassal state) of young American state. Even gifted a lot, from navy and money support in fight for independence from British Empire to the land and resources. If you will try to find better US ally over time, you will not find any.
So, the idea of Russia as ally of US have a real historical base and not as insane as mass-media want you to think.
However, with time US slided back to the British way of doing diluted by Jewish influence. Unlike in Russia, Jews didn't declare Americans as enemy but intemixed with them taking the country under control. The lack of etnic identity allowed that. In Russia/USSR a Jew was still a Jew, but in US a Jew become fellow "American" with all consequences. So, US become a Jew controlled state with pretensions to be a new British Empire.
As a nation, they have very different ideologies.
Modern US ideology can't attract any sane person. So people try to find something better, say, to return to initial "American dream" borrowing some things from other ideologies in the hope that they will prevent distortion in future.
From that point Russians are the only ones where to look for. We are the only white european nation, existing for millenia with ideology that is different from modern western one and not alien enough to white people as Asian or African ones.
That is why in attempt to fix the things some Americans could look at Russia with hope.

It's not the "former soviet regions", it is historical territory of Russian Empire for centuries. Russia always took back whats ours and a little more from those who take a bite, be we named Russian Empire or USSR or Russian Federation, whatever.
If US will "democratically" lose, say, Montana, Oregon, Idaho and Washington to China in some economic and political crisis, will it let them go, or will try to take them back?
and they don't exactly have free elections (or even the act of one).
Get rid of that "election" illusion as fast as possible. Elections is a special political performance to make every voter to think that somebody else voted for that "elected" bastards to legimize their powers.
The more rightoids cling to Russia as a "BASED" nation and to Putin as a "CHAD", the more unAmerican they look.
Those who don't try to find a solution for breaking out from that disgusting modern US ideological dead end, look much more unAmerican than those who try. Initiativity and looking for opportunities - aren't that things true American superpowers?
It's up to Americans whether they will find some solution or not, but if they want to they should be in hurry. After the fall of USSR, Russians took a lot from Americans, but now what we see in US is something rotten and disgusting. Nothing to be jelaous for or even consider interesting at all. Honestly, modern US state looks like insane satan worshipping drag queen with a grenade that violently demands undeserved attention and respect from people around.
