I’ve been intrigued by the idea of “planetary” scale consciousness for a long time. The ideas of Jung and his elaborators in the form of “the Collective Unconscious” which gets taken seriously to varying degrees in the mainstream, but mostly dismissed beyond its “allegorical” value. So the idea being an epi-consciousness that emerges out of the summation of consciousness present on a given planet.
In a similar vein is taking that “emergent” consciousness and instead of regarding it as the result of its sub-constituents, you regard it as the source of its sub parts. So the idea of Ares/Mars giving rise to and being embodied by a warlike people, or Venus being embodied by a people that value beauty, or Wisdom, or the other Divine Virtues. This idea treats these Virtues as living entities, basically.
I think, like most things, the answer isn’t either/or but both/and. On that note I’ll link you to a really short “story” that I think bears on this subject in a really interesting way:
Just to clarify (there is other background information you could know, relavent to this “story”) the “dark dust” is dark matter, so the story is basically attempting to give a plausible mechanism to the idea of “planetary” (the Nine being the nine great bodies of the solar system) consciousness
On another note, the fungi has a way of telling us things are possible which may not ever occur to our “normal” state of consciousness. I think society would improve immensely if we brought back “coming of age rituals” involving the various sacred substances
And I would posit that occurrences of synchronicity are signposts that you are on the right track. Almost like an in-game easter egg. And perhaps similarly, the good easter eggs in video games are sometimes hard to find.
I should probably read more Jung in that regard, but I have a feeling for the most part I know what is going on...
I'm not well read philosophically, but another realization that I had is that everything is a paradox, virtually.
I even explained it to my mom like this...Everything we know is 100% and 100% false. Does that mean reality is an illusion or a trick? That's what "The Matrix" proponents want people to think.
But a far better way to think of it is like this...People spend a good chunk of their lives trying to be like other people. In a way, they aren't 100% "real", they are playacting. At the core of it, most people don't actually want to be other people though. Like if you reincarnated, you might want to be someone else, but really, at least from my end, you wouldn't want to lose who you are (this may go back to Adam and Eve and the origins or pride/narcissism). So is the world a play, a stage, a story, a morality test, or a game? The correct answer is both/and LOL. With free will allowing you to make of it what you will.
The beauty of life and the impermanence of death are rather reassuring imo. :)
