Addendum: if you want to know the suppppper secret handshake, depending on the knuckle you press, signals your degree. EA is literally the lowest rung, and certainly not getting any favors from a lodge.

Can’t speak for higher degrees, but at least through MM, it’s just an excuse to get away from the wife and kids two Tuesday’s a month for meatloaf and to hear the old guys tell stories. Seek out your local lodge, send an email and join. Costs a few bucks initially and some annual dues, but it’s not much. Will need two Masonic references, but your initial interview will help with that.
