I hate that argument. It plays into the left-right paradigm and assumes that a person against abortion is also against spending to help children have what they need.
try to assure the person that I do, in fact, care and that I believe children should have what they need to thrive.
Then I would try to get that person to see that being aborted is not tantamount to being otherwise destined to grow up in poverty.
If the person persists by claiming that abortion occurs mostly among the poor, I would remind them that government policies that make survival subject to economic factors are fundamentally unfair. Even a poor family should be able to raise a child.
Socialists can justify anything by how they perceive its affect on society. You getting your vaccines benefits all of us. By the same measure, you aborting the child you can't afford to raise properly also benefits all of us (in their twisted worldview). Since their argument is really about perceived benefit to society and not reason, that's where you will find logical disconnects like the one highlighted in this video.
