I would like to see that comparison as well, but did you notice that the sudden death figure is from a 38-year span of time while the cardiac arrests, collapses and deaths on the field took place in a one-year/13-month timeframe?
Not to mention you would need to normalize for the number of athletes competing.
According to the follow-up tweet (using her math):
Among EU FIFA (football/soccer ball) athletes, sudden death increased by 420% in 2021...Historically, about 5 soccer players died while playing the game each year...January-November 2021, 21 FIFA players died from sudden death (2/2)
Hypothetical question: How would history have been different if Joseph Goebbels had just thought up the term "Sudden Hebrew Death Syndrome"?
Guess we shouldn’t call tie-breaker overtime shots “sudden death” anymore. Could be offensive to some.🫠
