The phrase is "pique your interest," not "peak your interest."

a) PHRASE, noun[Gr. to speak.] - "a short sentence or expression". I utilize whatever expression from others; be it peak or pique, to what impresses (perceivable inspiration). From my perspective its about the origin of suggested words; hence perceivable sound and the behavior of those within. That's what one grows comprehension of when adapting to it.

b) PIQUE, noun - "an offense taken". What if the offense wasn't offered (perceivable inspiration doesn't offend); yet ignoring perceivable (inspiration) for suggested (information) causes the offense aka the want vs not want conflict of reason?

c) with "offense taken" in mind...did my response of quoting "to peak interest" represent an offense or did you chose to take offense from it?

d) the thread was about suggested conspiracies on a conspiracy forum...why would that pique interest aka take offense among so called "conspiracy theorists"? Meanwhile; to peak interest (growing it) fits the OP sales-pitch intent.
