If Republicans take power, they need to find a way to try him with high crimes that result in conviction and execution. But in not going to hold my breath.
I suspect that this is what Colbert's people were doing in the capital building last week when they claimed to be "filming a skit". Copying from my earlier post:
I'm worried about what they were doing that absolutely couldn't be done on a set somewhere. If it was just a "skit" wouldn't someone know they were trespassing on actual government property the instant they aired it? Why weren't there actors present? If it was legit, couldn't they have cleared it with actual permission ahead of time?
Consider Schiff's involvement. What does he get out of letting them in for a "skit" he's not part of? This reeks of some convenient "newly found footage of insurrectionists causing actual harm and damage" recording to be released where a stage set just won't suffice. Or even worse, listening devices planted. That's stuff Schiff could use to advance his career and agenda.
So another question comes to mind, was it Colbert being dumb or was he just the one who was reached out to to provide a group who could stage things convincingly, and had a group willing to fulfill quickly? What equipment was used or seized - cameras or phones? This whole thing stinks. Who is protecting who?
