It's just media hype, there are cases in America and elsewhere every year. As to a vaccine the already invented smallpox vaccine which eradicated the terrible disease, fun fact first vaccine developed in 1798, prevents the disease. However we don't vaccinate for it anymore because it's so rare so cases occasionally pop up. Nothing to worry about if you just do some research.
I saw an article today that suggested use of a smallpox vaccine for monkey pox to reduce symptoms. Because science.
