It's been that way for a long time, sadly. I won't give the Atlantic a click.

The usual situation applies. When you're out of power, you advocate for free speech, and once you're in power, you advocate for shutting down of free speech. That's why lefties in the 1950s until about the mid 2000s were big on free speech. The right had cancel culture of commies, and cancel culture of those who didn't support the global war on terror. When the left gained dominance in social media, why, the parties flipped on the issue.

To their credit, though, the ACLU is defending the NRA against New York's targeting of their insurance and financials through regulatory overreach. The reason, they say a red state government could do the same thing.

The issue is they hired young attorneys that don't believe in the mission, or the Constitution. They should have known better than hire those people

Robert's 2nd Law of Politics: Any organization not explicitly right-wing sooner or later becomes left-wing.

I was reading comments yesterday, and an attorney explained why from personal experience.

As an attorney they are required by law not to allow their personal opinions or politics to get in the way of providing the best legal care they are capable of.

The problem is that the woke have been taught that they have to push their theories or they're oppressors too. That idiology doesn't need to be anywhere near a place like ACLU. If they don't agree with the mission, they shouldn't be eligible for interview.
