It's sitting on a supervolcano caldera. It has 3 volcanoes in its caldera. Which are seeing increasing activity. Plus it's on a faultline.
Basically the majority of the North Island of New Zealand and the top and top west is the caldera with an active fault running through it. It has been gaining activity. Where it is expected before the turn of the century either a super quake or an eruption will occur.
There's no real science to it. It can put richter scales in. Soothsayer some rock formations, gauging present activity, then input a hypothesis. It hasn't scratched the surface or fully understood its place in the cosmos. How much a combination of things tie into events called climute change. It instead sells windfarms for the supposed rising sea levels and EVs for volcanoes. Except by offering vague predictions of seismic activity based off the conjecture of past speculation. It isn't particularly accurate. Largely because it could occur somewhere else or it can occur in a few places. However that activity has been increasing and it's not restricted to just New Zealand but globally.
Although New Zealand as stated is gaining activity and sitting on the above.
Laughably it is increasing its population to deal with it. Until more sacrifices are needed. It is also releasing its gas and shale for the global demand. Just a bit more fracking Kiwis that should do it.
