This is the main reason. I think there is something like Phoebus cartel was for light bulbs, but for the cars. Car manufacturers don't need cars that will last centuries. You could easily fix, replace and upgrade anything in the car except body. And it is a body that is marked with VIN code, so it is a body that officially represent a car.
