I believe the U.S. and its allies should rapidly field their own hypersonic weapons....

IIRC, after several US failures, the Russians offered to share their operational hypersonic technology, recognizing its destabilizing character. The US turned them down, I suppose because huge defense contracts aren't awarded when someone just hands you somthing.
