I might suggest flipping around the thesis of your title: the mystery schools were set up to preserve and--more importantly--to control the knowledge that was given to the Sumerians by the Anunnaki.
And let me add a note on Michael Heiser, the chief "debunker" of Sitchin: I once watched a few minutes of one of his main presentations, where he sought to show that you could completely dismiss the Anunnaki. He said something like, "Go to the Oxford Text Corpus of Sumerian Literature and search on the term 'anunnaki'. You won't find it anywhere because the Sumerians never mentioned the Anunnaki."
Strictly speaking, this is true. Sitchin came up with the term himself. HOWEVER, the Sumerians used the term "Anuna gods" instead of "Anunnaki", and they refer to the same group. There is no way Heiser was unaware of this. It's a deliberate lie.
I've only ever read a couple of paragraphs of Sitchin's work, but from what I understand of it I've come to many of the same conclusions independently.
Seriously, I can only describe a few things about it from a "meta" perspective. The Anunnaki were greatly advanced technologically, as we can see in all the ancient monuments and "antiquitech" laying around all over the world, which I assume originally came from them. Certain of the Anunnaki gave advanced tech to certain humans to secure their loyalty. And note here that, as we are told by Arthur C. Clarke, we could call it either high tech or magic, so we should keep in mind that these are not distinct.
So what tech was this exactly? Well, I believe only some handful actually know. But the Bible warns strongly against practicing "sorcery", and I believe this tech is what is being referred to. (And yes, the "elohim" of the Bible are the Anunnaki.)
Why warn us off? One reason is that it's probably powerful and therefore inherently dangerous if not used properly. A second is that it may be inherently negative or evil (like it's hard to imagine constructive uses for chemical weapons.) A third is hard to describe, but I have the suspicion that use of it may somehow make one vulnerable to negative influences. An example here is the "tech" of the ouija board, of which you will find many warnings against "opening a door you don't know how to close".
I wish I knew more but as a final note, always remember that "mystery" does not mean what most people think it does, which is "something that no one knows". It actually means "secret", or "something that few know".
Really appreciate your lengthy response here. I think the bible was written strictly to make humans and the earth into an obvious prison planet of slaves who wont fight back and think that 1 book their slaver elites printed for them has the answers. But i agree with the rest of your points in that the anuna etc gave tech to a few AND that occult rituals and their objects likely links up with this tech or magic .. i wonder how the bloodlines could play into this Anuna theory. Like maybe they mated with some of them and gave the tech to them only so as to keep it in the family and foster extreme loyalty that would last hundreds of generations up to now? Strange we all know their was some kind of ancient other species but our schools and political leaders refuse to explore this huge known ancient fact?
Yes, I believe you've pretty much nailed the basic idea on the interbreeding. And once you accept that as a working hypothesis, you finally start looking through the correct end of the telescope.
There are numerous things, quite diverse and scattered throughout history and even current affairs, that are puzzling and even bizarre on their own but find a succinct explanation with the Anunnaki bloodlines idea. Why were so many ancient kings and notables said to be giants? Why do kings say they have the "divine right" and emperors say they have the "mandate of Heaven"? Why do so many claim to have descended from the gods? Why are the Elite so obsessed with bloodlines? Why did pharoahs wear the uraeus? Why is there all this serpent worship everywhere? Why are Jupiter and Moses and others often portrayed with horns? Well, it goes on and on.
You might like to give some reconsideration to the Bible. As I have been able to understand and "decode" it, it mainly concerns certain human interactions with the Anunnaki. There are many aspects of it which Biblical scholars simply wave away like that bad smell that can be explained quite precisely with an understanding of the Anunnaki and their relationship to humans.
Mathematics, Science, Art, the nature of our reality. Things like that.
People often talk about the physical part of building the great pyramid. That is just one part of a mega structure like that. The amount of math and planning involved is ginormous, and its hard to believe that people who were recording the solstice with sticks in the mud were capable of calculating the precession of equinox. The earliest mainstream society was able to do it was in early greece with the beginnings of algebra and calculus. At a time when everyone thought the world was flat, they were just learning the math involved to calculate something like the movement of a heavenly body in space. Meanwhile whoever was responsible for the zodiac system had known much much longer, likely before the last interglacial which was something like a 100,000 years ago. And when this one ends, the next one will start again in another 80,000 or something like that.
Then there are things like, the reoccurring cataclysms that earth faces on a semi predictable basis. If they admitted that we were created by higher beings, then they would have to admit maybe the rest of these old legends are true as well. Wouldn't want to cause mass panic do we.
Look at groups like the knight templars -> free masons. Some of their highest guarded secrets are math and architectural knowledge. They believe by hoarding this knowledge that they can reap special benefits over the average person. There may be some truth to all this old mumbo jumbo about the power of symbols and the spoken word. To share knowledge would mean giving up that power.
One of the biggest secrets is death. In all these old society's, no one feared death because they knew that death is not the end, but just another step in the cosmic process.
Very awesome response, thank you. I agree about the masons / secret societies knowing there must be power behind the symbols and speech because why else did they OBSESS over these prime numbers, stars, and hexagrams etc if they were ALL BULLSHIT?
I've read some of the cataclym redpill books and O do think there is a repeating pattern of massive cataclysms.
You're last thought is the most important to me, death on this earth and what it really means. Its something no one can answer today, yet how come ALL the past civilizations weren't scared or even were SUPER confident that they knew what happened to us at death? All these years i thought they were dumb mud and stick people.. now it seems they knew more than we actually do in regards to the MOST IMPORTANT thing, death on this hellish earth..
How could they all be so confident? They had to have seen something or felt something to know that we are not.
All of this expose has totally changed my perspective on life and the world. But now I must know the answer to death because My father has lung scarring disease at 61 and is now on oxygen, etc and I am so scared of losing my dad that I dont think I can even live on any more if I do.
Thats why I must know what they knew, how could they be so happy and confident and i am so fragile and scared of that possibility of losing my dad FOREVER that I cant go on?

What do you think that anuna knowledge or mystery knowledge is?
I don't know, it's a mystery!
