I hear there's only 4 cops in the sex crimes unit in Seattle, and that they regularly get assigned to non-sex crimes and patrol. They haven't made any arrests this year, they only end up working on cases where the criminal is in custody for another unrelated crime.
Seattle has roughly half the amount of officers that they need for the city's size.
The City Council caved to the 'defund the police' movement and the various NGO and protest groups that have taken over the city. The prosecutor doesn't charge criminals. The CHOP/CHAZ spectacle two years ago was a symptom of a larger problem of lawlessness in the city. Cops are getting out and going elsewhere.
Anyone else paying attention is also getting out either to protect their families or to recover their investment before the property values drop like in Detroit.
It does make you wonder who is buying up the property. Chinese were buying up large sections of California. It might also be happening in Washington.
