It turned out that Seattle Public Schools was actually funding a non-profit organization that was paying for meth for the homeless encampment living outside our school. Police are no longer investigating sexual assaults. Seattle is not a normal place to be. (www.youtube.com)

I hear there's only 4 cops in the sex crimes unit in Seattle, and that they regularly get assigned to non-sex crimes and patrol. They haven't made any arrests this year, they only end up working on cases where the criminal is in custody for another unrelated crime.

Seattle has roughly half the amount of officers that they need for the city's size.

The City Council caved to the 'defund the police' movement and the various NGO and protest groups that have taken over the city. The prosecutor doesn't charge criminals. The CHOP/CHAZ spectacle two years ago was a symptom of a larger problem of lawlessness in the city. Cops are getting out and going elsewhere.

Anyone else paying attention is also getting out either to protect their families or to recover their investment before the property values drop like in Detroit.

It does make you wonder who is buying up the property. Chinese were buying up large sections of California. It might also be happening in Washington.

People are starting to flee the cities, which means property values are going down. However if they try to reverse their dumb policies, maybe prices will recover later. EIther this is their longterm goal or they are just dumb as fxck, hard to say how much of each.

My point is someone is buying up a lot of the properties at a fire sale, why? I guess they could just be very optimistic though. The strategy of buying and holding and letting real estate value increase over the long haul has worked in most USA cities for decades now, they may be just assuming it still will. Or maybe they know something we don't?
