Part of the goal of the leftists, communists and clueless conservatives, what have you, going back a long time, was the destruction of the family unit. This is done through no fault divorce, contraception, the Sexual Revolution, convincing women to go into the workforce en masse in times other than war, and other things like this. The building block of a sane society is an intact family. Children need the influence of a father and mother and some associated stability.

The other thing that has been done, is to outsource many of the jobs a family and the local community USED to do to the government. It used to be a family took care of their parents in their old age, now we offload it to medicare and social security. It used to be families taught their own children, with the community coming together to hire a tutor or start a small local school. Now most kids are sent to a cattle car education program at the public school, that even if the school board is local, the curriculum was designed with the Department of Education and with No Child Left Behind standards in mind.
