Yeah, cool, I'll just keep a cow in my backyard then.
Societies have always relied on trading food and other items. The marketplace has been the center of towns for thousands of years. The problem is globalization - they should be getting grain from their countrymen, not from foreigners.
We have 1 acre per person. The US has 6.
That is the total land surface, per person.
Which is very different to "arable land available for cultivation, per person" - which is approx. 1/5 acre
