It did't mention that eastern Ukraine was Russian land until Lenin gave it to Ukraine in 1922 - and Russians were already living on it. Crimea was given to Ukraine with Russian already on it in 1954, I think.
Perhaps the kindest, most logical solution is to give those lands back to Russia - to save "good riddance" and to force Russians and Ukrainians to move to their respective lands so that neither or victimized by the other.
