As the threat looms... last i heard they were in the capital?
Yes, the first article is from December, the bottom article is from yesterday.
Ukraine promised to draft women, but then went back on it.
They assumed their gender??? 🔥
I would not want to hand guns to any number emotional woman that have no safety training.
They repelled some of the initial invasion. Drones, urban retreat. It simply regroups and then comes back stronger. Russia has been sustaining some losses. But it's gonna get real ugly. Often the worse that resistance is. Because like Aleppo, they'll surround cities. Starving out supplies, disrupting any other utilities etc. Inching forward under artillery, and air. Not favourable but what's that objective?
Of course the problem for Russia becomes the sanctions and the outcry. Where mysteriously a mindset of sanctions assumes that a country with resources and production manufacturing its military instead of buying it, is costing multi billions to invade. Sanctions have cost. Inevitably. Because they also bite into the normal current population. If they don't stop Russia, by sanction what? The worse causalities there are how bad does it cause a reaction?
But this is also wrong. In a war where they're resisting what. Death, or freedom. Or freedom to die?
This is a propaganda tool. Human shield. Provoking global mediation. Because the meat is suddenly sweeter. Omg not the women and babies. Got to give the toddlers RPGs, releasing the self detonating grandparents.
I also don't think they're after a prolonged engagement. It's a series of actions with specific aims. Remember Kazakhstan a few months ago?
No it is 100%.
A) They have had months amassing
B) They're going to occupy after invasion, and root any major resistance.
C) In doing so they have to install a new command structure. Or a favourable one.
Your comparison is an existing command against a peasant revolt. Not against a standing army.
In this situation as a comparison, if they cannot effectively enter. It's a case of Aleppo. Because that enemy is using shields and retreating back into Urban centers where it has production and cover. This piece, a human shield. The men now the women. Protecting a command structure where it is rostering them. Largely to cause outcry as sanctions bite and outrage draws World opinion. It protects any other advance. But sooner they'll likely close the border completely and cut off coms.
But you're right who knows fully what that objective is. But it is faster getting full on. Men women are rostered.
Again I don't have to reiterate. I take no side. I am not fighting here. As an overview, discussion, I can only draw on comparison with what seems logical or obvious.
I think Russia only has money to occupy for a few months. Kazakhstan to new shows they prefer to get in and out.
Kazakhstan is very different. Completely different. Largely a closed country. Different politics. It flared probably exploited but a larger protest. Geopolitically Russian position and its allies a competitor alliance to Nato of former satellites sends in peacekeepers.
Russian problem is averting the image of becoming Soviet again. What do any alligned satellites do? They pick sides and possibly unalign. Citizens could even coup.
With Ukraine, due to a huge history not worth getting into, take far too long. But Crimea isn't going anywhere else. It frankly is absurd to even suggest America gives Hawaii back too. They don't even want too. But by geography it dominates Ukrainian coastline. The more Western Ukraine becomes the more threat to Russian Crimea it becomes. It might as well be what it is now because tomorrow it would be. Accidental war was sooner unavoidable, it redefines the borders. Instead of openly engaging until an accident causes it. It isn't only Crimea. Much of Eastern Ukraine is also of Russian origins.
But now once the bear awakes. It doesn't hibernate until its had its fill.
Who knows that full agenda.
Hawaii asked us to intervene to keep the peace. They recognize they couldn't self govern. Now they have full representation. I'm not seeing the parallel.
Crimea voted Russian, when Ukraine couped, it has about a 75% Russian population, like the Eastern separatists regions.
Except historically Crimea has always been Russian. For the last few hundred years. It was gifted to Catherine the Great by separatists from the Ottomans, as a province, seeking a Russian protectorate. It has since been Russian.
Crimea like Hawaii has a huge naval and various military bases. These also manufacture and build.
It was a simple example not a direct parallel.
There is far more to that history but briefly unless you will debate otherwise. That's a run down. Far more like perhaps Cossacks. Curiously remember a line from Sean Bean in Goldeneye where did he come from? Eastern Ukraine separatist province. For the LOL. Seriously. Was Stalin a Cossack? Dunno, but asking. Although a different region?
With oil at $110 a barrel. FFS.
Yes, that IS the current propaganda, but does that mean that you "think" that? Unfortunately, yes. Yes it does.
oy vey
All part of Klaus' plan. The Republicans in the US said no to that.
