Kazakhstan is very different. Completely different. Largely a closed country. Different politics. It flared probably exploited but a larger protest. Geopolitically Russian position and its allies a competitor alliance to Nato of former satellites sends in peacekeepers.
Russian problem is averting the image of becoming Soviet again. What do any alligned satellites do? They pick sides and possibly unalign. Citizens could even coup.
With Ukraine, due to a huge history not worth getting into, take far too long. But Crimea isn't going anywhere else. It frankly is absurd to even suggest America gives Hawaii back too. They don't even want too. But by geography it dominates Ukrainian coastline. The more Western Ukraine becomes the more threat to Russian Crimea it becomes. It might as well be what it is now because tomorrow it would be. Accidental war was sooner unavoidable, it redefines the borders. Instead of openly engaging until an accident causes it. It isn't only Crimea. Much of Eastern Ukraine is also of Russian origins.
But now once the bear awakes. It doesn't hibernate until its had its fill.
Who knows that full agenda.
Hawaii asked us to intervene to keep the peace. They recognize they couldn't self govern. Now they have full representation. I'm not seeing the parallel.
Crimea voted Russian, when Ukraine couped, it has about a 75% Russian population, like the Eastern separatists regions.
Except historically Crimea has always been Russian. For the last few hundred years. It was gifted to Catherine the Great by separatists from the Ottomans, as a province, seeking a Russian protectorate. It has since been Russian.
Crimea like Hawaii has a huge naval and various military bases. These also manufacture and build.
It was a simple example not a direct parallel.
There is far more to that history but briefly unless you will debate otherwise. That's a run down. Far more like perhaps Cossacks. Curiously remember a line from Sean Bean in Goldeneye where did he come from? Eastern Ukraine separatist province. For the LOL. Seriously. Was Stalin a Cossack? Dunno, but asking. Although a different region?
