Can someone explain why the Russians are in Ukraine? What are they doing? What is their objective? The news seems to skip over these important details.

I keep hearing this. Russia already has access to the Black Sea. Hundreds of miles of coastline.
I'd have to look it up. There was something about that region being important to connect to efforts in Syria as it relates to pipelines.
Sochi (Winter Olympics) is on the Black Sea. Novorossiysk is a large Black Sea port. They took control of this coast in the 1820s during the Ottoman-Russian wars.
Useful context: Crimea is already annexed. Russia is using it to transport pipelines. Not sure whether this is to simply shorten routes around the sea, whether it's a region of production itself, or something else. Whatever it is, there's been a lot of happenings: https://www.euronews.com/2021/09/08/us-ukraine-crisis-crimea-blast
It's all Russian. Russia is simply defending there nation and interests from American aggression.
Most likely scenario.
Some of your downvotes baffle me.
Ahhh.
It's year 21 of an approx. 30-year plan to shift Europe from Tropical oilgas to Arctic oilgas.
The war is likely just for show, it's quite possibly a nothingburger because all the big players are on the same team.
Ibrahim's Oils being replaced by Ivan's Petrol Co.
