It kills like 40% of those that get it, and the incubation period is very short, meaning when you get sick, you get sick pretty fast so you don't spread it around like the flu. Also, I think I recall that it's only spread by bodily fluids and it's not airborne. So you only get it when you're helping care for someone bleeding out of every orifice.
So, in shithole countries in Africa, with very little medical infrastructure, they don't have Black Plague level die offs when Ebola pops up every 10 years or so because of those reasons.
