I'm familiar with a hospital who has 51 nursing and assistant staff currently on maternity leave. The norm for a facility that size is about 25.
Speaking to some of those individuals directly, and to even more of their acquaintances, the reason for the spike is they were intending to refuse an impending jab mandate: they were to be relieved of duty without pay. They do, however, qualify for paid time off in the form of maternity leave. Yes, they literally chose to become pregnant in order to maintain their income without getting the jabs!
