I'm beginning to think Wakanda is based on a real location.

Why is a tiny country in the middle of Africa, surrounded by unstable neighbors, in an inconvenient geographic region, with little in the way of natural resources besides hydro, trying to become Africa's Singapore?

As early as 2006, Rwanda was receiving foreign investment from China at a rate higher than even Tanzania and Kenya, which are important Chinese allies. Despite the investments, China has not levied any payments yet or set any interest on the trillion or so in debt Rwanda has. Due to this, the economy is growing faster than any other country in Africa.

67.1% of the country had electricity last year; however, new power plants coming online will bring power to the entire country by 2024. For a landlocked country with few natural resources, why is this important for China? Rwanda plans to install 5G in the entire country coincident with power supply. Rwanda's upcoming airport is among the most modern and versatile in Africa, and will relieve some of the stress from Kigali's existing airport, which is operating at maximum capacity despite having three terminals!

And then we get into the research and innovation sector. Seriously? Rwandan Space Agency. Sounds like its about 60 years early to me! Despite having suspiciously no article on wikipedia, the source of all misinformation, the RSA has plans to create a 45,000-strong array of internet satellites. They also want to build a space elevator and a dyson ring around the earth. They have expressed interest in asteroid mining and they are partnering with NASA to launch their own space telescope.

Oh, and the government wants to build a particle collider larger than CERN's. And the military is lobbying to get nuclear weapons citing border skirmishes with DRC rebels.

If this was a large country doing this, like Brazil or Argentina or Indonesia, that would be one thing. They are large and important countries and they have been for a while. But Rwanda? WTF! Anyone have any knowledge on this?
