Evidence from ancient civilizations have depicted what some say are firsthand introductions to off-world life forms. These days in our highest tech world all we get are a few lights and a blur on a video of a "recon" mission. Perhaps they were once unafraid of us in the arrows and slings days but today things are different. Hollywood usually depicts a human victory over unfriendly aliens in the form of a nuclear or biological event (except Slim Whitman). In the Forties, two things happened, we used nuclear weapons to stop the last of our world wars amongst ourselves and Roswell. Was the cold war an actual sharing and distribution of technology to ensure a global nuclear defense against a recently confirmed potential off-world invader? Are test firings an ongoing warning to BTFO?

If their shielding can take space pebble impacts at faster than light travel, our nukes can do nothing to it. Hitting a pebble at that speed is more destructive than tsarbomba. They're not afraid of us. They became interested that we accomplished physics feats only stars can naturally do.
There's also many accounts of UFOs shooting of nukes in their silos. We achieved something big, some crucial first step to interstellar travel. Something they achieved a billion years ago. And now they wanna see if we do right with it or not.
The DoDs alien plan is literally run for the hills and low tech infiltrate and suicide bomb their craft to make our planet cost too much to exploit/conquer.
While their shielding may indeed protect against physical impact(and agreed it would need to) we have no reason to assume it protects against EMP. When your craft requires precise controls, and your shielding requires immense energy, having that disrupted by something you can’t shield against would be terrifying.

EMPs work on voltage surges. I'm sure they have ways to bleed off, discharge, or store excess current in the system. EMPs are also useless against electronics as small as EoTechs and other small red dots. Just put a fuse in between each small ass component and replace whichever fried and blew the fuses before it could fry the component to the left and right of it.
This hypothetical civilization figured out all possible applications of nuclear energy as a weapon and defenses for it A LONG TIME AGO. Nuclear to them is like bows and arrows to us.
Bold or otherwise, assumptions are all we have at this point until we have the tech on the table before us and screwdrivers at the ready to take it to bits. Placing a fuse between every single component adds a level of complexity that quite frankly could have been ignored simply by not planning on needing it. If nuclear is as old tech to them as you say, then it’s plausible they have moved so far past it that they didn’t need even consider needing emp shielding at all. I haven’t met any of these aliens (at least to my knowledge) so while I am loath to ascribe human flaws and characteristics to them, I also am reluctant to give them perfection of thought, planning, and execution of all things. Assuming they have perfect tech, perfect shields, perfect cohesion between themselves, these are all just assumptions and we have no real reason to think this is true. Just because we have the technology to make something better, safer, more protected doesn’t mean we do. We’ve had dry sump oil systems for engines since the 1940’s and yet they’re not commonplace even in fields where they would be extremely beneficial. Our troops could have $300000 body armor but higher ups don’t justify the cost. For all we know their scout ships are built cheap and planned as disposable as are their crew so they might get the bare minimum needed and not all the bells and now whistles that they have achieved.
Again, assuming you know the technical capabilities of advances civilizations is hubris. Might as well be throwing spears at an F-15 dropping bombs from 5k feet.

Imagine a modern spec ops squad vs vikings. Thermals in the night, suppressors, bullets just hitting dudes with no sound at night Luke it's magic. It'd be like that if we fought them, probably even more of a discrepancy.
