Economics is only one aspect of the greater issue of Logistics.
Inflation, unemployment... You need money? To buy what goods, when the trade ships refuse to dock at port? The people who survive will be those who prioritized securing their supply chains. You can live by buying food with IOU's, but if the grocery trucks don't arrive you can't eat dollars.
